Ensuring safety in the feed and food supply
FSC36 Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Version 7.0 is an audit created in partnership with the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) to further provide the animal food industry with a standard for protecting the safety of feed products and to enhance consumer confidence in the feed and food supply.
- FSC36 is the basic code that helps facilities become mostly compliant with the Food Safety Modernization Act’s animal food rules.
- Audits are conducted every two years for the FSC36 program. In non-audit years, companies are required to perform a surveillance audit, which must be signed by the company’s certifying body. The certifying body will issue the certificate upon successful audit completion.
- A typical FSC 36 audit timeline can be found here.
- Additional audit information and resources can be found on the Safe Feed/Safe Food website.
